If life came with instructions.
If people came with "cliff notes".
If we could all live near the ocean.
If people always understood what you "meant".
If every weekend was a 3-day weekend.
If everyone obeyed the golden rule.
If chocolate was better for you.
If everyone put family first.
If we all had one of those "fast metabolisms".
If they always liked us back.
If we took the time to watch more sunsets.
If heels were more comfortable.
If everyone worked doing something they love.
If we all thought before we spoke.
If concert tickets weren’t so darned expensive.
If parents never outlived their children.
If we took more real vacations.
If everyone married once.
If everyone truly thought of everyone else as equal.
If everyone cared about our natural resources –or lack there of.
If pets –dogs in particular –lived longer.
If everyone was born loving to excercise.
If kids still had time to be kids.
If cigarettes had never been invented.
If no one lied.

I thought I’d put together my list of favorite songs in 2006. These are not neccessarily the "best" made songs or the ones that have the most important or meaningful lyrics –although that rings true for a few on the list.
Some of these songs made dance….. some made me cry
Some made me think and some wonder "why?"
But each one represents some part of my 2006
In no particular order, my favorite jams of 2006 are:
- Money Maker (Ludacris)
- Hate Me (Blue October)
- Me and U (Cassie)
- Chasing Cars and Chocolate (Snow Patrol)
- SexyBack and My Love (Justin Timberlake)
- Crazy (Gnarles Barkley)
- Cab (Train)
- Hips Don’t Lie (Shakira)
- How to Save a Life (The Fray)
- I Wanna Love You and Smack That (Akon)
- Steady As She Goes (The Recounters)
- Sexy Love (Ne-Yo)
- Vans (The Pack)
- Promiscuous (Nelly Furtado)
- I Don’t Feel Like Dancing (Scissor Sisters)
- When You Were Young (The Killers)
- Temperature (Sean Paul)
- You’ll Think of Me (Keith Urban)
- Dance, Dance (Fall Out Boy)
- London Bridge (Fergie)
- Show Me (John Legend)
- Buttons (Pussycat Dolls/Snoop)
- Put Your Records On (Corrine Bailey Rae)
- I Don’t Trust Myself (with Loving You) (John Mayer)
- And pretty much everything on India Arie’s Testimony: Vol. 1, Life & Relationship, but in particular, Wings of Forgiveness and her remake of the classic Don Henley hit The Heart of the Matter

As I sit here this morning on the eve of another new year, enjoying a delicious bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios, a thought came to me….
I never liked Cheerios.
Since as far back as I can remember, Cheerios lived on my " I don’t eat that" list. Admittantly, it’s not a terribly long list, but as far as cereals go, (which I generally love), Cheerios had a place on that list right at the bottom near Grape Nuts as cereals I simply didn’t like.
But what I don’t know is when or why Cheerios got on that list because, when I had them for the first time in a really long time a couple of years back, I absolutely loved them.
And what it has me thinking this morning, is now many other things may be on on my "I don’t eat that" or " I don’t do that" list, that I should re-evalutate. I’d bet there are alot.
So, I add to my areas of improvement for the new year, to question my own pre-conceived notions about things to determine if perhaps –like with Cheerios (and with Sushi, now that I’m thinking about it) –there are things that I didn’t like that perhaps I would now.
Here’s to a year of discovering the delicious things in life.
